Ok, metal is there. And what now? How to make it leave the bacteria?

Adsorption is just the first part of our journey. We took metals from wastewater and now we want to release it from biomass and use/deposit further? But how?

Team in BioBureau is working on it. We are trying different approaches to release bacteria from biomass: to be effective, economicaly favourable, and to try to keep bacteria live.

So far we gave chance to 1M HCl, 1mM EDTA, and CO2.

At this moment, the results show that HCl release more metal ions from biomass, but kills bacteria. In the future research we should try to optimize process. Plan is to take even more metal from bacteria, while preserving bacteria, so that biomass can be used again.
