Invasive Species Control

Invasive species are considered to be one of the biggest economical threats for the 21st centuries. Specially fouling invasive species like the Golden Mussel in South America and the Zebra Mussel in North America are caused economical damages estimated in more than US$ 1 billion every year. We applied the knowledge that we acquired after years of genomic studies of these animals to propose an innovative approach to control these species in contained environments based on RNA interference and gene silencing.
